Velux Window Leaking

Velux window was leaking badly.

I invited Paul Coulson to do the work.

He invited me up onto the roof and demonstrated where the water was coming and how he could fix it.

Underfelt damaged allowing ingress

New felt and trim laid

Had heavy rain and so far we have had no leaks

Introduction

Having recently moved into our house, we noticed we had a skylight between the first landing and our bathroom.
It brought light to that short passageway. Unfortunately it also brought rain.
A bucket was placed under it to catch the drips.

Clearly this was a priority.

Anyway, on to mybuilder.com and posted my job. I received two interested builders, David Finney DBF portfolios and another.

They both came round, gave plenty of advice and said they would send me a quote.

Sadly, I never heard from one of them again. David Finney was keen, he came and took photos.
roof corner felt coming away from corner

general wear and tear with moss. you can see
the foot of the wall staining
skylight not looking very healthy
pitched roof beyond flat roof almost all the hip
tiles were loose and needed relaying
further along near the skylight that channel is
badly blocked and you can see the skylight needs
replacing
Soon enough got a quote from David Finney.. He convinced me to not just fix the skylight but replace the whole flat roof. I also wanted the loose hip tiles on the pitched roof done and you can see the walls are rendered at the back and needed the holes filling. I also wanted the whole back of the house painting/

He estimated it would take around 3 days to complete all of it.

I was due a bonus at the end of May so booked the work in to coincide with that.

He came during the week and did the work over three days. I wasn't in as he didn't need access.

So this is what he did.

Skylight is still unfinished and still leaks.

He didn't take the old roof off. It is still wet underneath.

That is shocking and wrong. The new felt has nothing to stick to.

I would welcome any comments.
